Substitute Teacher in Roselle Park Arrested

A 20-year-old substitute teacher at Roselle Park High School was arrested last night and charged with 2nd degree aggravated sexual assault, announced Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow, after it was revealed the man had sexual relations with a student.

Nick Genovese DOB: 8/29/1989 faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted. According to the investigation, Genovese who worked briefly for the school in late 2009, met the victim while teaching, said Romankow.

At a later date the two met off of school property and engaged in sexual acts, said Romankow. The alleged assault came to light after the girl’s parents were notified and they contacted police.

Genovese was released last night on $50,000 bail and will have a court appearance in the coming days.

These criminal charges are mere accusations.
The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
