Arrest made in Elizabeth Homicide

Less than 24 hours after a woman was found shot to death inside an Elizabeth apartment, members of the Union County Homicide Task Force arrested an 18-year-old man and charged him with the crime.

Fahteem L Tucker DOB: 3/15/1991 of East Grand Street in Elizabeth was charged in the death of Zorymar Rosado, said Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.
According to the investigation, police were called to an apartment on South Spring Street in Elizabeth just after Midnight on January 18. They discovered Rosado DOB: 12/15/1992 inside the apartment suffering from gunshot wounds, said Romankow. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Based on interviews and an intense investigation, the Homicide Task Force identified Tucker as the prime suspect in the case and arrested him on Monday evening.  He is currently being held on $500,000 bail at the Union County Jail.

This was the first homicide of 2010 in Union County said Romankow and “this quick arrest shows the diligence and importance of the Homicide Task Force. This is just another example of detectives identifying and arresting a suspect before the person has a chance to harm someone else.”

Tucker will have his first court appearance in the coming days.

These criminal charges are mere accusations.
The defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
