Task Force Investigating Roselle Homicide


Members of the Union County Homicide Task Force continue to investigate the death of a taxi driver who was found inside his vehicle on Friday night in Roselle, said Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.
The Roselle Police Department was dispatched to the 900 block of Drake Avenue around 10:29 p.m. Friday for a report of a man unresponsive inside a taxi. Upon arrival they discovered the victim, John Zych DOB: 10/1/1952 of Linden lying across the front seats of the vehicle.
Zych, who was known as Jack, was a driver for the Linden based Joan’s Transportation, said Romankow. The Medical Examiners’ Office determined the cause of death to be a homicide.
The Homicide Task Force and the Roselle Police department continue to canvass the area for witnesses and video surveillance from surrounding businesses, said Romankow.

Additionally, Union County Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the death of John Zych. Crimestoppers may be reached at (908) 654-TIPS and all calls are kept anonymous and confidential.

This remains an active investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
