The mission of the Union County Workforce Investment Board is to develop and implement fiscal policies that succeed in matching the needs of employers to have a well-trained workforce with the needs of job seekers to attain and retain employment that leads to economic self-sufficiency. To that end, the Union County Workforce Investment Board will generate policies that facilitate the linking of the Union County One-Stop with private businesses; and systems of economic development, workforce development, educational development and social welfare development.
The Union County Workforce Investment Board will continually improve the local workforce development system to provide job seekers with lifelong learning through employment and training opportunities, and employers with a competent workforce that will stimulate and grow the local business economy.
The Union County Workforce Investment Board is responsible for determining local workforce development policy in addition to providing guidance and oversight for local Workforce Investment Act services and activities. The daily management of Workforce Investment Act operations and services has been delegated, as per Workforce Investment Act regulations, to the One-Stop Career Center System Operator.
