Procedures for Paying a Bail at the Union County Jail
If you need to obtain the amount of a bail, or charge information for a specific inmate please call the Inmate Information line, at 908-558-2610 between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30.
All questions regarding bail, charges and detainers, must be obtained from this department. After regular business hours, contact 908-527-4483.
Bail Bondsmen may contact the Bail Office to make an appointment with the bail clerk by dialing 908-527-4459
When posting a bail at Union County Jail, you must have ONE of the following valid forms of Identification:
Photo Driver’s License
Motor vehicle ID
Cash or certified check for the amount of the bail, made out to: Treasurer, State of NJ
A $30.00 filing fee, cash or money order, for each indictable bail. Bring exact change, we cannot make change.
All probation fines and domestic arrears must be paid at theUnion County Probation Office 1143 – 1145 E. Jersey Street Elizabeth
During regular business hours, Monday through Friday. After normal business hours, and on weekends, and holidays, probation fines and domestic arrears may be paid at the Union County jail.
Bails are accepted at the Union County Jail 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

Appointments are NOT necessary to pay a bail at the Union County Jail.
