Authorities Seeking Information in Linden Homicide

A year after she was killed while walking home with friends, the Union County Homicide Task Force continues to investigate the shooting death of an 18-year-old Linden woman, said Acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park.

At 11:55p.m. on July 9, 2012 Linden Police were called to the 500 block of Hussa Street follow reports of an argument and gunfire, said Park. When they arrived officers discovered Amber Wilson DOB: 2/12/1994 dead at the scene from a gunshot wound, said Park.

Since the shooting, members of the Task Force and Linden Police Department have worked tirelessly on the investigation, examining evidence and interviewing dozens of potential witnesses and others. The investigation thus far reveals that victim was walking from a local Dunkin’ Donuts when she was approached and robbed. During the robbery, words were exchanged and the Linden High School graduate was shot, said Park. It is possible that Wilson knew her attacker.

“We want to focus attention on this tragic crime and try to get someone to come forward and do the right thing,” said Park. “Someone knows something, the person responsible, and they should come forward.”

Anyone with information regarding the shooting may anonymously phone in tips to Union County Crime Stoppers at (908) 654-TIPS, via the Internet www.uctip.org, or text UCTIP plus a message to 274637. Information that leads to the arrest and indictment of the person or persons responsible for the death of Amber Wilson are eligible for a reward of up to $5,000.
