Crips Member From Elizabeth Found Guilty
On Tuesday, a Union County Jury convicted a member of the Crips street gang, finding him guilty of 2nd Degree Robbery and 3rd Degree Aggravated Assault, Union County Assistant Prosecutor Brent A. Bramnick who prosecuted the case.
Anthony Kelly DOB: 5/30/1990 of Elizabeth was arrested in connection with a January 2010 robbery on Fulton and First Street in Elizabeth where, according to the investigation, Kelly attacked the employee of a local business. The victim was seriously injured in the attack and spent several days in the hospital, said Bramnick.
Following an investigation by the Elizabeth Police Department Kelly was arrested about a month later, said Bramnick. Kelly was found guilty following a three-day trial and two hours of deliberations.
He faces 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on September 22, 2011 before Union County Superior Court Judge Miriam Span.
