Man Convicted of Sexual Assault

Donald Andrews DOB: 10/26/1969 was convicted earlier today of kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, making terroristic threats and other charges, announced Prosecutor Theodore Romankow.

Andrews, whose last known address before his arrest was in Basking Ridge, was arrested in 2010 following an investigation into a woman who was sexually assaulted in Elizabeth on Halloween night in 2009, according to Assistant Prosecutor Colleen Ruppert, who prosecuted the weeks long trial.

According to the investigation, the victim was stranded in Elizabeth when she was approached by Andrews, who offered to drive her to a train station, said Ruppert. Instead, he drove the victim to a desolate area of the city, where he dragged her from the car and sexually assaulted her. He then threatened to kill the woman if she contacted police.

The victim managed to get to a hospital for an examination, and Andrews was arrested several months later through the use of forensic evidence, said Ruppert. Andrews will be sentenced in June and faces up to life in prison.
