Newark man indicted for 2005 slaying of Plainfield woman
A Union County grand jury has returned an indictment against a Newark man charged with the 2005 killing of a Plainfield woman in her home, acting Union County Prosecutor Grace H. Park announced Friday.
Dorian Gillon, 48, is charged in connection with the death of 39-year-old Williametta Moore.
The body of Moore was found just inside the front door of her home on the 700 block of West Third Street in Plainfield on December 15, 2005, according to Union County Assistant Prosecutor Bruce Holmes, who is prosecuting the case.
The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Plainfield Police Division continued to pursue the case until September 2013, when a breakthrough led to Gillon being identified as a suspect and charged with killing Moore by strangling her to death. He was arrested in Elizabeth without incident at that time.
Bail for Gillon was set at $1 million, cash only, by state Superior Court Judge Frederic R. McDaniel.
These criminal charges are mere accusations. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
