trail clean-up

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – Members of the Watchung Junior Hunt Club (WJHC) spent a crisp spring afternoon cleaning up a section of bridle trail in Union County’s Watchung Reservation. Under the guidance of trail steward Nick Cioppettini, volunteers raked debris, moved rocks and stones, and edged the trail with fallen tree limbs which they dragged or carried into place. The WJHC is made up of horseback riders from Watchung Stable who are between the ages of 9 and 17. Trail clean-up participants, shown from left to right, are Phoebe Weiman of Cranford; Nina Cioppettini, President of the WJHC, of Summit; Meghan Foley of Clark; Candice Mason of Clark; Monica Cioppettini of Summit; and Janine Puhak of Cranford. Adult project volunteers included Janice Loop, Dolores Batz-Culp, Deborah Weiss-Im, and the club’s adult advisor, Nancy Scileppi of Summit. WJHC members take part in a variety of club and County-sponsored events, including Watchung Stable’s Mounted Troop Program. Watchung Stable is a service of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, administered by the Department of Parks, Recreation and Facilities.
