Joey Arminio & ‘The Family’ Bring Their Big Band Variety Show
to Echo Lake Park, July 18

Mountainside/Westfield, NJ – The Union County Summer Arts Festival concert series continues on Wednesday, July 18, featuring Joey Arminio & “The Family” and their big band variety show. The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, led by Chairwoman Bette Jane Kowalski, invites the public to attend this free concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Echo Lake Park.

Joey Arminio & “The Family” pay tribute to the great entertainers of the ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s. From the Sinatra Era to Doo Wop, the show is complete with costumes, props, sing-alongs and lots of laughs. They’ve been featured in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Wildwood, The Poconos, The Catskills, and now Echo Lake Park!

Freeholder Chairwoman Kowalski urges you to “bring the whole family, pack a picnic basket, bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, and enjoy an evening of your favorite standards and light jazz with these talented musicians.”

The Union County information van will be at the concert site, along with representatives from Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County and the Union County Bureau of Environmental Conservation and Recycling, to answer questions and offer information about important services available to Union County residents.

The other free concerts in the Summer Arts Festival series include:

July 25 – De Sol (Latin);
August 1 – Mustang Sally (country);
August 8 – Jo Bonanno & the Godsons of Soul;
August 15 – The Sensational Soul Cruisers;
August 22 – The Ed Palermo Big Band with Rob Paparozzi;
August 29 – The Nerds (Jersey Shore party band).

All Summer Arts Festival concerts are held on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Springfield Avenue end of Echo Lake Park in Mountainside. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets are encouraged. Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que will have a food concession, along with an ice cream and snack vendor, which will be available at approximately 6:30 p.m.

In case of rain, concerts will be held at the air-conditioned auditorium at Cranford High School, on West End Place off Springfield Avenue in Cranford at 7:30 p.m. For up-to-date concert/rain information call the Parks and Recreation hot-line at (908) 352-8410 after 3:00 p.m. on the day of the concert or check the Union County website at after 3:00 p.m.
