Jobonanno & the Godsons of Soul
Play Free Concert at Echo Lake Park, Aug. 8

Mountainside/Westfield, NJ – The Union County Summer Arts Festival concert series continues on Wednesday, August 8, featuring Jobonanno & the Godsons of Soul. The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, led by Chairwoman Bette Jane Kowalski, invites the public to attend this free concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Echo Lake Park.

Jobonanno & the Godsons of Soul have electrified rock clubs and concert halls for more than ten years and were voted one of the
top-ten Jersey bands by News 12 New Jersey. The band has opened concerts for Bruce Springsteen, James Brown, Eddie Money, Mitch Ryder, Bad Company, Gary U.S. Bonds, Clarence Clemons, and other popular rock and soul acts.

Freeholder Chairwoman Kowalski urges you to “bring the whole family, pack a picnic basket, bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, and enjoy an evening of high energy Soul in Rock ‘n Roll.”

The Union County information van will be at the concert site, along with representatives from the Union County Sheriff’s Office, to answer questions and offer information about important services available to Union County residents, including Operation Life Saver.

The other free concerts in the Summer Arts Festival series include:

August 15 – The Sensational Soul Cruisers;
August 22 – The Ed Palermo Big Band with Rob Paparozzi;
August 29 – The Nerds (Jersey Shore party band).

All Summer Arts Festival concerts are held on Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m. at the Springfield Avenue end of Echo Lake Park in Mountainside. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets are encouraged. Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que will have a food concession, along with an ice cream and snack vendor, which will be available at approximately 6:30 p.m.

In case of rain, concerts will be held at the air-conditioned auditorium at Cranford High School, on West End Place off Springfield Avenue in Cranford at 7:30 p.m. For up-to-date concert/rain information call the Parks and Recreation hot-line at (908) 352-8410 after 3:00 p.m. on the day of the concert or check the Union County website at www.ucnj.org after 3:00 p.m.
