Governor Jon Corzine joins State Assemblywoman Linda Stender (L), Assemblyman Neil Cohen (2nd L) and Union County Freeholder Chairwoman Bette Jane Kowalski (R) in presenting a check for $75,000 to Mike Peters (C) and James Chippendale (3rd R) of the Love Hope Strength Foundation and Carol Walton (2nd R) of New Jersey Citizens’ Coalition for Cures after the fund-raising Rock-On! Walkathon in Cranford on September 15. The two-mile walk benefited the two cancer research foundations. The Love Hope Strength Foundation was founded by Peters of the Welsh rock group, The Alarm, and entertainment insurance executive Chippendale. Both men are survivors of Leukemia and created the organization as a means of giving back by building a support network for cancer patients worldwide. The walkathon was chaired by Freeholder Chairwoman Kowalski, Assemblywoman Stender and Assemblyman Cohen, the sponsor of the NJ Stem Cell research laws. The Rock-On! Walkathon kicked off the day-long Union County MusicFest ’07 in Nomahegan Park in Cranford.
