Mountainside, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to offer a new art workshop for adults, ages 18 and older, on the creative and engrossing art technique of touch drawing on Saturday, October 6, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Trailside Nature and Science Center in Mountainside. “This unique class gives adults the opportunity to express themselves in an unusual and satisfying artistic medium,” said Freeholder Chairwoman Bette Jane Kowalski, liaison to the Union County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. “The scenic 2,060-acre Watchung Reservation provides the perfect natural setting to inspire workshop participants to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces.” The morning workshop will be taught by Linda Howe, certified art teacher and touch drawing instructor for the past five years. Participants will experience the flow, flexibility and creativity of mono-printing – a process in which pressure of the fingers impresses a design from underneath paper, which is submerged in paint. Your hands stay clean! Make countless prints using a Plexiglas panel, a soft rubber brayer, water mixable oil paints, and paper on which you “touch draw.” Participants are encouraged to bring an apron or old shirt to wear while painting. Space is limited and pre-registration is required. The fee is $15 per person for Union County residents and $20 for out-of-county participants. The fee includes all materials. For additional information on this workshop or for a complete brochure of Trailside’s adult workshops and other special events please call 908-789-3670 or visit us on our website at www.ucnj.org/trailside. Trailside Nature and Science Center is located at 452 New Providence Road in Mountainside and is a service of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. |
