Warinanco Ice Skating Center Is Open
Ice skating already? “You bet!” says the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

Union County’s own Summit High School faced off against West Essex in last year’s George Cron Hockey Tournament at Warinanco Skating Center, Roselle. Come play hockey at one of Warinanco’s open hockey sessions or sign up for lessons to learn the basics of the game.

“Warinanco Ice Skating Center, the County’s renowned facility is now open for the 2007-2008 season,” said Freeholder Chairwoman Bette Jane Kowalski. “Come down for one of our public sessions, join a pick-up hockey game or sign up for lessons with one of our wonderful instructors. Ice skating is great exercise and Warinanco’s ice is waiting for you!”

Skate rentals are available or bring your own.

the recorded message at (908) 298-7850. Pick-up/Open Hockey is held every Wednesday from 12:30-2:30 p.m. Participants must be 18 years or older and
present appropriate identification. Helmets with a cage or shield are required.

Special events for the 2007-2008 season include Broom Bowl, Nov. 24, where children take the ice and “bowl” for prizes, and the annual George Cron Hockey Tournament in December which features the best high school hockey in the area. Group, private and hockey clinics are also available with qualified instructors. A Pro Shop and a refreshment stand are other features.

Union County’s Skating Center is located off Thompson Avenue in Warinanco Park, Roselle. Park entrances are located on St. Georges Avenue, Thompson Avenue,
