Union County Sheriff Ralph Froehlich (2nd L) thanks Joan Fiumefreddo of Manalapan and Don Palisay (2nd R) of the Sal Fiumefreddo Memorial Foundation for their donation of $4,500 to be used to purchase a new dog for the Union County Sheriff’s K-9 Search and Rescue Unit. Joan’s husband, Salvatore “Sal” Fiumefreddo, was killed in the terror attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. She made the donation in his memory. Mr. Palisay, a retired Port Authority police officer, is Sal’s brother. They are joined by Sgts. Brian Howarth (L) and John Gillespie from the K-9 unit. The Sheriff’s K-9 Unit worked at Ground Zero after the attack.
