Union County / Merck 2007 Juried Art Show
on Display at Freeholders Gallery until Jan. 15

ELIZABETH, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to present an exhibit of selected paintings, photographs and mixed media art work from the 2007 Union County/Merck Juried Art Show at the Union County Administration Building, Elizabethtown Plaza at Rahway Avenue, in Elizabeth through Jan. 15, 2008.

The Freeholders Gallery is on the 6th floor of the Administration Building. The art exhibit is open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to
5:00 p.m. weekdays
and additional evening hours, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., on Dec. 13th and 20th during the Freeholders public meetings.

The exhibit presents
21 works from artists living or working in
Union County who participated recently in the ninth annual juried show at the Arts Guild of Rahway.

The juried show is a partnership project of the Arts Guild of Rahway, a non-profit, multi-disciplinary center for the arts, and the Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, with generous funding from Merck & Co., Inc. and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.

Artists whose work is on display in the Freeholders Gallery include: Leon Bober of Elizabeth, Elisa Kessler-Caporale of Summit, Maxine King of Woodbridge, Barbara Melino of Fanwood, Janice Metzger and Michael Metzger of Westfield, Gina Minichino of Westfield, Zenia Olesnycky of New Providence, Joan-Marie Permison of Union, Fausto Sevila of Elizabeth, Monica Shimkus of Cranford, Jane Thompson George of Summit, and Barbara Wallace of Elizabeth.

Photographers whose work is on display include: Greg Cummings of Fanwood, Andrea Ewald of Westfield, Nancy Ori of Berkeley Heights, Shari Seltzer of Westfield, Carolyn Soltys of Aberdeen, Roberto Terrana of Elizabeth, John Wyatt of Rahway, and Sue Zwick of Summit.

The jurors for this
year’s exhibit were: Steve McKenzie, Artist/Director of
Art Education,
Newark Museum; Rachael Faillace, Artist/Professor, Middlesex County College, and Owen Kanzler, Photographer
/Pilot, Owen Kanzler Aerial Photography.
