Mountainside, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders is pleased to offer an Irish-American history lecture and bagpipe performance on Friday, March 14, from 7:30-9:00 p.m. at Trailside Nature & Science Center in Mountainside. Seton Hall University Professor Dermot Quinn, a distinguished lecturer and author of the acclaimed book, “The Irish in New Jersey” will engage the audience with the history of the successes and tribulations of the Irish immigrants in New Jersey. Culminating the lecture and putting us in an Irish frame of mind, piper Eilish Harrington will play some favorite Irish tunes while evening refreshments are served. The fee for this lecture and music is $10 per person for Union County residents and $15 per person for those from other counties. Pre-registration is preferred as space is limited. Doors open 15 minutes prior to the event. “This enlightening lecture, accompanying piper melodies and festive refreshments will put us all in the mood for this popular Irish celebration,” said Freeholder Chairman Angel G. Estrada. For information about this event or other upcoming programs and special events at Trailside, please call 908-789-3670 or visit us on the web at www.ucnj.org/trailside.
