Jessica Zimmer is Trooper of the Year at Watchung Stable

Mountainside, NJ – Seventeen-year-old Jessica Zimmer, of Cranford, was awarded the “Trooper of the Year” trophy and medal for accumulating the most points during the 2007-08 season at Watchung Stable in Mountainside. Every student rider in Union County’s Mounted Troop program starts with 30 points at the start of their riding season. Points are deducted for poor attendance and/or not adhering to the troop uniform code during lessons. Points are also added to a trooper’s record based upon the type of ribbons they win in Troop horse shows. The Trooper of the Year is the individual who has accumulated the most points and it is a coveted title at the Stable.

Jessica, who has been riding for eight years, received the Trooper of the Year trophy from stable manager Mark Burrows during Watchung Stable’s 75th Anniversary Spring Troop Horse Show on May 23-25. Watchung Stable, a facility of the Union County Department of Parks and Community Renewal, is administered by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
