Personal Assistance Services Available for
Adults with Physical Disabilities in Union County

The New Jersey Personal Assistance Services Program (PASP), a statewide program that helps adults ages 18 through 65 with permanent physical disabilities, is available to eligible Union County residents who need supportive services to live independently while pursuing employment, vocational training, educational or volunteer opportunities.

“The Personal Assistance Services Program enables adults with physical challenges to realize their vocational and community service goals with greater independence and satisfaction”, said Union County Freeholder Chairman Angel G. Estrada. “This program has been making a meaningful difference in the lives of Union County residents with disabilities for more than 20 years. We want to make more people in Union County aware of the Personal Assistance Services Program.”

Eligibility is not based on income or assets; however, consumers are asked to contribute to the cost of their services based on their income.  To be eligible, an individual must reside in the community and be capable of directing his or her needed services.

Personal assistants help with essential tasks of daily living, including dressing; bathing; meal preparation; light housekeeping; laundry; shopping and errands; driving; using public transportation; and, help with bill paying and other correspondence.
