Union County Clerk Wins Communications Award

ELIZABETH, NJ – Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi is the winner of the first place award in a communications contest sponsored recently by the National Federation of Press Women.

Ms. Rajoppi’s entry in the contest was a calendar featuring the 2008 Presidential Election. The calendar was submitted in the category of “Public Service Publication.” It describes the important deadlines and dates associated with elections in Union County this year, including the Presidential Primary and General Election, and deadlines for candidates’ financial reports, petition filing, and voter registration.

“In keeping with the upcoming Presidential election, the calendar’s theme is Presidents who have visited Union County,” Rajoppi said. “From the early days of our nation, when George Washington visited Elizabethtown for a pre-inaugural luncheon, Union County has been host to more presidents than can be adequately depicted in a 12-month calendar. I have offered a sample of photographs that includes vintage views of Presidents Woodrow Wilson, Theodore Roosevelt, Calvin Coolidge, Harry Truman and others as they worked, campaigned and relaxed here.”

Ms. Rajoppi previously received an Honorable Mention in a National Federation of Press Women contest for her book, “Women in Office: Getting There and Staying There.” She also won first place in a New Jersey NFPW contest for her brochure, “The History of the Union County Courthouse.”
