SPRINGFIELD, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, the Township of Springfield and the Union County Department of Parks and Community Renewal will celebrate National Night Out on Tuesday, August 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Meisel Park, off Meisel Avenue in Springfield.
“National Night Out is a time for people to learn about neighborhood safety and to stand together against crime and violence,” said Freeholder Chairman Angel G. Estrada. “And it’s a time to strengthen our relationships with the law enforcement and public safety officials who work to protect and serve our communities.”
This year’s event will showcase Union County Police, Union County Office of Emergency Management, and Springfield emergency vehicles and equipment. The Overlook Hospital helicopter will be on site as well.
There will be complimentary hot dogs and water for all attendees plus free inflatable rides, games and activities, including a live musical performance by Glen “Wreckin Ball” Waldeck. The first 50 families to sign up their email address for the Union County Events E-News will receive a free children’s bike helmet plus other giveaways.
After the National Night Out activities, at 8:45 p.m. Union County’s summertime Family Flix program will show the 1989 movie classic, “Field of Dreams” starring Kevin Costner, James Earl Jones, Amy Madigan, Ray Liotta and Burt Lancaster. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and enjoy a free movie under the stars.
