Union County Announces August Distribution Schedule
for Farmer’s Market Vouchers for Eligible Seniors

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders is participating again in the state’s Farmer’s Market Program that offers vouchers to eligible senior adults to purchase “Jersey Fresh” vegetables, fruits and herbs.

“We are pleased to offer this nutritional assistance program to eligible seniors throughout Union County,” said Freeholder Chairman Angel G. Estrada. “Our senior residents benefit greatly by adding Jersey Fresh produce to their diets and the program also helps the hard-working family farmers of the Garden State.”

To be eligible for the $20 in vouchers, an individual must be a resident of Union County age 60 or older. Annual income for individuals may not exceed $19,240. A married couple’s annual income may not exceed $25,900. Proof of income must be presented in the form of a Medicaid card, SSI card, or annual pension or Social Security statement.

Advance registration applications may be picked up at all senior nutrition sites and senior centers throughout Union County. Vouchers are accepted at any farmer’s market displaying the “WIC” sign. The vouchers are not accepted at grocery stores or other markets.
