Miss New Jersey USA 2008 joins Union County event

Elizabeth – A special surprise guest will greet children at the Kid’s Kingdom Traveling Jubilee on Sunday, August 3, at Phil Rizzuto Park. Union County’s own Tiffany Andrade, Miss New Jersey USA 2008, will be on hand to talk about her experiences and sign autographs.

“We are thrilled to have Tiffany Andrade, Miss New Jersey USA 2008, join the festivities and meet the children,” said Angel G. Estrada, Chairman of the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. “Ms. Andrade is a warm-hearted and generous role model for any young person who aspires to excel in life and to help others.”

Phil Rizzuto Park is located at the southeast corner of Morris Avenue and North Avenue, at the Elizabeth-Union border. The Jubilee is open from noon to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 3. Ms. Andrade will appear from 1:30 p.m. The event includes free children’s activities, entertainment and exhibits, along with modestly priced moonwalks and other activities.

Ms. Andrade, 23, is a resident of Linden. She is a Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Raising funds for cancer research will be the focus of Ms. Andrade’s year as Miss New Jersey USA 2008. She has previously been involved with cancer-related organizations including The Ronald McDonald House and The Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Ms. Andrade earned her degree in nursing at Wagner College, where she acted in numerous leadership roles. While there, she combined her lifelong love of dance and her passion for working with children by teaching hip-hop at I.S. 51 in Staten Island. She intends to start a family of her own, and to continue her medical education.

The eighth annual Kids Kingdom Traveling Jubilee is sponsored by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. It is a series of four events that takes place in Union County parks throughout the summer. The Jubilee features fun, safe, and educational activities for all ages. Performers have included musicians, puppeteers, storytellers, jugglers, magicians, and strolling entertainers.
