Union County Freeholder Chairman Angel G. Estrada (R) and Freeholders Chester Holmes (L) and Nancy Ward (2nd R) join Linden Mayor Richard Gerbounka (C), Linden Library Director Dennis Purves (2nd L), Union County Improvement Authority Chairman Tony Scutari (3rd L) and Library Board President Marilyn Coplan (3rd R) in breaking ground for the new Linden Library on East Henry Street. The $7.6 million project was financed through the Union County Improvement Authority. The new 25,000 sq ft building will be constructed behind the existing library on Henry Street. To enable residents to continue using library services with the least possible disruption, the existing building will remain in use until construction nears completion. In addition, the children’s room has been moved to the John T. Gregorio Recreation Center at 330 Helen Street.
