Check Out New Union County Tourism Resource Guides

The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders announces development of two comprehensive resources that promote cultural life and leisure time activities within the county.  The free descriptive booklet, “In and About Union County: From Berkeley Heights to Winfield,” and the webpage, www.ucnj.org/tourism, list events taking place throughout Union County, from concerts to car shows, plays to parades and race-walking to re-enactments.

“The booklet and the webpage will appeal to both residents and visitors because they are the only list of the ever-evolving schedule of special events and activities taking place in Union County,” said Freeholder Chairman Angel G. Estrada. “These services are being implemented as part of the Union County Tourism Master Plan.”

The Union County Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs distributed surveys to each municipality through its mayor’s office, clerk’s office, recreation department, historical society and nonprofit arts organizations. Responses to these surveys form the basis of the booklet and the webpage. Listings include a description and short history of each of the 21 municipalities in Union County, recreation facilities, arts and history organizations, links to food/drink/lodging, and calendars listing both current and annual events taking place in various towns and cities.

“In and About Union County” is available by contacting the Office of Cultural and Heritage Affairs, 633 Pearl Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07202. Telephone 908-558-2550. NJ Relay users call 711. View information at www.ucnj.org/tourism or contact culturalinfo@ucnj.org.
