Union County hosts world-class HO scale layout

A spectacular 1600 square foot model train layout is on display for the holiday season, complete with a light and sound show, at Union County’s Lenape Park in Union Township.

The HO scale layout is renowned for its dedication to realistic detail and life-like railroading functions. Owned and operated by a non-profit group, The Model Railroad Club, Inc., it is the largest display of its kind in North America.

“This is a delightful family show for the holidays,” said Union County Freeholder Chairman
Angel G. Estrada. “The Model Railroad Club is a wonderful place to visit any time of year, too.”

The layout is permanently housed in the A. Paul Mallery Model Railroad Center on Jefferson Avenue, off Route 22 East in Union, behind the Home Depot.

Advance tickets for the holiday show are $6.00 for adults, $4.00 for children ages 3 - 15 and $5.00 for seniors aged 60 and over. Tickets purchased at the door on show days are higher. Children ages 2 and younger are free. The building is wheelchair-accessible and parking is free.
