Union County Freeholder Chairman Alex Mirabella (R) and Union County Police Chief Dan Vaniska (L) present John Ciborowski with a resolution and an award honoring him for saving a motorist from a burning car in the Watchung Reservation. On December 9, the David Brearly High School teacher spotted an unconscious driver in a burning car, called 911 and proceeded to rescue the man whose jacket and sweater on fire. After freeing the victim from the car, Ciborowski pulled the burning jacket off the driver and extinguished the fire on his clothing. After emergency crews arrived, the driver was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital in Livingston. Ciborowski himself was treated at Overlook Hospital for his burns. |
