GROW YOUR OWN PIZZA
Union County offers family garden workshop for pizza lovers

Elizabeth, NJ – If your family loves home-made pizza with a real garden fresh taste, bring them to a gardening workshop at Williams Nursery in Westfield. Experts from the Rutgers Cooperative Extension 4-H Program of Union County will show you how to grow tomatoes, basil and peppers so you can make your own pizza sauce.

The workshop is scheduled for Friday, April 24, 6:30-7:30 p.m. There is a $5.00 fee per family. Pre-registration is required by April 17, by calling the Union County 4-H program at
908-654-9854.

The program is intended for children in first grade and up, accompanied by their families. It includes tips on how to pick a good spot for your garden, how to prepare the soil, and how to plant and care for your seedlings. Each family will receive soil amendments and a coupon for tomato plants.

The Rutgers Extension is supported in part by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
