BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders through the Department of Parks and Community Renewal is pleased to announce the availability of an exercise program at Runnells Specialized Hospital for people who have had strokes or those who have other physical limitations.
The special classes, which are instructed by a recreational activities therapist and a recreational activities aide, address general fitness needs. This non-stressful exercise program focuses on balance, posture, overall health and exercises that can be performed in a participant’s home.
Classes are accessible to those in wheelchairs and the program contains activities that can be adapted to everyone. The schedule of classes is every Tuesday and Thursday from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. from April 7 through November 5.
There is a one-time enrollment fee of $20.00 per person for the post stroke exercise program. Pre-registration and a doctor's release are required.
