UNION COUNTY APPLAUDS CONTRIBUTIONS OF NINE OUTSTANDING WOMEN

 

Elizabeth, NJ – The Union County Commission on the Status of Women is pleased to announce the nine recipients of 2009 Women of Excellence Awards.  The nine awardees will be honored at the 17th annual Women of Excellence dinner at The Westwood, 438 North Avenue in Garwood on Friday, March 27, 6:30 p.m.

“The Union County Freeholder Board is proud to recognize the achievements of these nine outstanding women,” said Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella.  “They represent thousands of others throughout Union County who work hard to excel in their personal lives, and who strive to make our communities stronger.”

The Commission on the Status of Women is sponsored by The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.  Its mission is to call attention to the contributions of women in the fields of education, health care, the arts, government, business, law, community service, technology, humanitarianism, public service, women’s advocacy, and lifetime achievement.

The 2009 awardees are:

Ina Golub of Mountainside, Fine Arts
Mildred Lewis of Cranford, Civic Leadership
Heather G. Suarez of Springfield, Law
Denise Miles of Summit, Volunteerism
Kristina Silvestry of Cranford, Women’s Advocacy
Kimberly Nesbitt Good of Elizabeth, Business
Patricia Murphy of Springfield, Lifetime Achievement in Healthcare
Janet Malko of Garwood, Lifetime Achievement in Secondary Education
