Berkeley Heights, NJ – A new online training program is helping the staff at Runnells Specialized Hospital of Union County hone their care giving skills while keeping up with the latest regulatory changes in the health care field.  The program, called Silverchair Learning Systems, was developed especially for health care facilities like Runnells.

“Care providers at Runnells have dedicated themselves to a lifelong process of training and learning,” said Union County Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella.  “This new program takes advantage of the latest online educational technology and software to help them keep their skills and knowledge up to date.”

Runnells Specialized Hospital is a state of the art Union County nursing care and rehabilitation facility that has served central New Jersey for more than 95 years.  It is known for its high quality service and its variety of events and activities for patients and residents.

The Silverchair program was introduced at Runnells earlier this year.  When fully up and running, it is expected to provide greater flexibility in scheduling staff training sessions, and make more efficient use of staff time.  Silverchair users can also access the program from home.

The system is available in English and Spanish.  It provides quick access to the latest updates in health care protocols, such as influenza prevention and pain management.  The courses also include emergency preparedness, residents’ rights, and many other issues that are related to health care facilities.

The Silverchair system is one of a number of measures adopted by Runnells to continue providing high quality care and services, while streamlining administrative operations and enhancing the accuracy of its scheduling, recordkeeping and reporting.

Runnells Specialized Hospital is located at 40 Watchung Way, Berkeley Heights, convenient to routes 22, 24, and 78.  For more information, visit
