Sleep Away Camp for Boys and Girls a Short Drive from Union County


Elizabeth, NJ – Union County boys and girls who have completed grades 3 through 10 are invited to spend a week this summer at the Lindley G. Cook 4-H Camp, just 70 miles away in the heart of Stokes State Forest, New Jersey.  The camp, managed by the Rutgers Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development Program, has been serving youth since 1951.

The 4-H camp features programs tailored to individual interests and guided at all times by experienced staff.  Activities include swimming, boating, arts and crafts, hiking, camping, nature and ecology, drama, air riflery, archery, newsletter publishing, and much more.

The camp runs for six consecutive weeks from July 5 through August 15, and special county preference weeks allow campers to attend with those from their local area.  Union County Week is July 26 – August 1.

The cost for a full week is $425, including all meals and activities.  Those paying in full by May 1 qualify for an early bird discount.  4-H club member discounts are also available.

All sessions begin on Sunday with registration check-in at 4 p.m.  The week ends the following Saturday morning with a closing ceremony at 10 a.m.
