Athletic Hall of Fame Induction

Elizabeth Councilman Edward Jackus (L), who also serves as Chair of the Elizabeth Athletic Hall of Fame, and Elizabeth Mayor Christian Bollwage present Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi with awards during the posthumous induction of former County Clerk William B. Martin into the Elizabeth Athletic Hall of Fame. Martin served Union County from 1917 to 1931. Rajoppi accepted on his behalf. Martin was a member of the winning Olympic team for riflery in the 1908 World Olympics. An outstanding marksman, he won dozens of military and civilian championships and was the guiding force behind the creation of the Union County Shooting Range in Nomahegan Park in 1930.
