Union County Medical Reserve Corps Prepares for Disaster Relief Training
Elizabeth – The Union County Medical Reserve Corps volunteers will receive response training for large disaster relief operations. Mass Care Overview, provided by the Tri-County Chapter of the American Red Cross, introduces participants to the role of Mass Care on a disaster relief operation, the services provided through sheltering, feeding and distribution of relief supplies, and the delivery quality service to clients. This training is open to Union County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members.
The training is scheduled for Wednesday June 10, 17 and 24, 2009 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ralph G. Froehlich Public Safety Building, Westfield, N.J. Pre-registration is required. The Union County Medical Reserve Corps is a community-based, volunteer organization that is prepared to assist local health agencies during public health emergencies. It includes medical and non-medical personnel such as nurses, pharmacists, dentists, veterinarians, interpreters, chaplains, office workers and legal advisors.
