Union County Opens Remodeled “Single 9” at Galloping Hill Golf Course

KENILWORTH, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Union County Department of Parks and Community Renewal announce the opening of the remodeled nine-hole course at the Galloping Hill Golf Course in Kenilworth. The course will be open for play on Saturday, June 13, with a green fee cost of $10 per person.

“The Single 9 was remodeled in order to accommodate the driving range and Learning Center which will be completed later this summer,” said Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella. “The goal is to provide a world class practice facility for the residents of Union County and the state with affordable rates.”

The remodeling of the 271-acre course in Kenilworth and Union is intended to make the Galloping Hill Golf Course the focal point of the Union County Division of Golf Operations’ plan to grow the game of golf in Union County with extensive but affordable adult and junior golf instructional programs.

“The work at Galloping Hill will help all golfers,” said Stephen Kay, who is considered one of America’s top golf architects. “We are building a great practice range which will help the ‘A’ player as well as the beginner. And the remodeling of the nine-hole course is a great complement to the championship 18-hole course.”

The new Single 9 course will play to a Par 33 at 2,343 yards. It is an executive type course which will be liked by super seniors, ladies and beginners – as well as being a good test for the accomplished players.

The Galloping Hill Golf Course is located off Kenilworth Blvd. in the Borough of Kenilworth, near Exit 138 off the Garden State Parkway. For further information about golf operations at Galloping Hill, please telephone 908-686-1556.
