Enjoy Fun Family Fridays This Summer at Trailside

There’s Friday Family Fun for all ages at Trailside Nature & Science Center this summer!

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – Trailside Nature and Science Center has space remaining in its summertime family workshops – but space is limited, so act now to reserve your place in a wonderful Friday adventure in Union County’s
largest park.

“The Watchung Reservation in Mountainside is the perfect location for adults and children of all ages to have fun while learning about the natural world around us,” said Union County Freeholder Deborah Scanlon. “These Friday workshops are a great way for families to enjoy nature together in an engaging way with a Trailside park naturalist.”

Learn “All about Birds” in the Watchung Reservation on June 26th at 1:30 p.m. using Trailside’s state-of-the-art exhibits. Discover how to identify birds by sight, sound, shape and color. Feel bird feathers, see a variety of bird nests and eggs and take a walk through the woods looking for local birds. Stop by Trailside’s Bird Attraction Area to find out who is eating sunflower seeds, thistle and suet. “All about Birds” is repeated on July 31st at 10:00 a.m. or 1:30 p.m.

Did you know that New Jersey is home to 21 different kinds of snakes? Meet live reptiles from Trailside’s collection on July 3rd at 1:30 p.m. in “Snakes and Turtles.” Learn fascinating facts about these elusive creatures and find out what they eat and where they live in
the wild.

Join a naturalist on a “Headwaters Hike” to investigate
the variety of life found in and around Lake Surprise. Friday Family programs are offered weekly in the summer at 10:00 a.m. or
