UNION COUNTY 4-H PET CLUB SEEKS VOLUNTEERS

Westfield, NJ – For animal lovers in search of a child-friendly way to share their enthusiasm for pets, the Union County 4-H is offering volunteers an opportunity to lead its First Grade and Third Grade Pet Clubs.

One volunteer is needed for each club.  The Pet Clubs teach children about responsible pet care, and helps them start to develop organizational and public speaking skills.  4-H staff provides each leader with training and ideas for activities.   The clubs are both limited to 10 children.  Parents attend with their children and provide assistance.

Both clubs meets once a month from September through June, on the third Friday night of the month, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Union County Services Building, 300 North Avenue in Westfield.

For more information about these and other volunteer opportunities, contact 4-H Agent James Nichnadowicz at 908-654-9854, extension 2236 or email him at nichnadowicz@njaes.rutgers.edu.  The 4-H Youth Development Program is part of Rutgers Cooperative Extension, supported in part by the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.
