Free Summer Concert Series Continues at Oak Ridge Park
with The British Invasion Tribute, July 22

The Union County Summer Arts Festival 2009 concert series continues on Wednesday evening, July 22, with the music of The British Invasion Tribute

CLARK, NJ – The Union County Summer Arts Festival 2009 concert series continues on Wednesday evening, July 22, with the music of The British Invasion Tribute. The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, led by Chairman Alexander Mirabella, invites the public to attend this free concert of hit songs at Oak Ridge Park in Clark, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The British Invasion Tribute is a one-of-a-kind tribute band that includes three acts in one show. It’s more than just the Beatles – the group focuses on the phenomenal bands of the 1960s and the hits that changed the musical landscape here and abroad for generations.

Freeholder Chairman Mirabella urges you to “bring the entire family for an evening at Oak Ridge Park. Pack a picnic basket, bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, and enjoy the nostalgic songs that are familiar to audiences of all ages.”

The first act features songs by British Invasion bands such as the Dave Clark Five, the Rolling Stones, the Hollies, Herman’s Hermits, the Kinks, Gerry and the Pacemakers, and The Who. The second act shifts to American songs by the Monkees, Simon & Garfunkel, the Beach Boys, the Mamas and the Papas, the Byrds and many others. The tribute concludes with an extraordinary rendition of Side “B” of the Abbey Road album by the Beatles.

The Union County information van will be at the concert site, with representatives from the Department of Human Services, the Division on Aging, the Division of Workforce Development Operations, and the Office for the Disabled, to answer questions and offer information about interesting programs that are available to Union County residents.

The Summer Arts Festival concerts are held throughout July and August on Wednesdays beginning at 7:30 p.m. The location of this summer’s concerts will alternate each week between Echo Lake Park in Mountainside and Oak Ridge Park in Clark. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets are encouraged. Refreshments and snacks will be available from vendors.
