Archery Lessons Are Available in Union County at Oak Ridge Park in Clark
CLARK, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders announces that new classes are available for people who would like to learn archery. The lessons will be conducted at the new Union County Archery Range at Oak Ridge Park in Clark.
“Archery is a popular recreational activity that has been underserved in our area,” said Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella. “The Freeholder Board is thrilled to have this opportunity to offer beginners of all ages a convenient and affordable way to learn the basic skills of archery.”
The archery course consists of a safety training session followed by hands-on instruction at the range. The fee is $20 for adults; $10 for youths (ages 9-17) and seniors (ages 55 and over); and a maximum of $40 for a family. Archery equipment is available during the lesson.
Three new archery lesson times have been scheduled:
Monday, August 24, at 6:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 20, at 1:00 p.m.
Sunday, September 20, at 2:45 p.m.
After completing the lesson, participants are eligible to purchase an ID card which permits them to use Union County’s Archery Range through June 30, 2010. The range is open daily, dawn to dusk. Anyone who has already completed an accredited archer safety course can go to Oak Ridge Park on Monday evenings, through August 31, between the hours of 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., to purchase a Union County Archery Range ID Card.
The fee for the ID card is $45 for adult Union County residents and $20 for youths and seniors. The Union County fee also applies to residents of Edison. The ID card fee for all other out-of-county residents is $90 for adults and $40 for youths and seniors.
Class space is limited on Aug. 24 and Sept. 20, so reservations are required. Anyone interested in learning the safe use of a bow and arrow should call the reservation desk at the Union County Department of Parks and Community Renewal at 908-527-4900.
