The Sensational Soul Cruisers Perform in Free Concert at Echo Lake Park, August 26
MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – The Union County Summer Arts Festival concludes its 2009 concert series on Wednesday evening, August 26, with music by The Sensational Soul Cruisers. The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders, led by Chairman Alexander Mirabella, invites the public to attend this free concert of rocking soul music at Echo Lake Park on the border of Mountainside and Westfield, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The Sensational Soul Cruisers are not just another 11-man vocal harmony group with horns. Led by sax player Screamin’ Steve Barlotta of Freehold, the band captures the essence of the Jersey Shore sound and its R&B roots and has catapulted from its humble basement origins to become Jersey’s premier show band performing more than 200 shows each year. Now celebrating 19 years together, the band returns to Union County to entertain its fans with a high energy assortment of rhythm & blues, Motown, Stax, and classic Philly Soul.
Freeholder Chairman Mirabella urges you to “bring the entire family for an evening at Echo Lake Park. Pack a picnic basket, bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on, and enjoy an evening of soulful rhythms and four-part harmonies.”
The Union County information van will be at the concert site, along with representatives from the Union County Police, the Division of Emergency Management, and the Bureau of Environmental Health, to answer questions and offer information about interesting programs and services that are available to Union County residents.
The Sensational Soul Cruisers performance at Echo Lake Park on August 26 is sponsored by the Union County Education Association. Lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets are encouraged. Refreshments and snacks will be available from vendors.
In case of rain, the concert will be held at the air-conditioned auditorium at Cranford High School, on West End Place off Springfield Avenue in Cranford at 7:30 p.m. For rain information call the Union County Department of Parks and Community Renewal at (908) 558-4079 or visit the Union County web site: www.ucnj.org/parks/summerarts.html.
