“Vote By Mail” Response Prompts Union County Clerk to Extend Office Hours
before Nov. 3 Election
ELIZABETH, NJ – With the November 3 General Election just around the corner, Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi reminds voters that her office at 2 Broad Street in Elizabeth will be open from 8:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. during the week of Oct. 26-30, and on Saturdays, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
“The new Vote By Mail application and the extended hours of operation at my office in Elizabeth make it easier than ever to vote,” Ms. Rajoppi said. “This is an historic and important year, and we’re working to make the voting process as fast and convenient as we can for everyone who is eligible.”
Voters will be able to apply in person for a Vote By Mail ballot, receive their ballot, vote in privacy and deposit their ballot in a secured lockbox – all at the Union County Clerk’s Office during these extended office hours.
Registered voters are encouraged to Vote By Mail, an easy process which has replaced Absentee Voting. To obtain an application, voters may pick up the form at their local municipal building; they can download the form at the Union County Clerk’s website: www.ucnj.org/ctyclerk/VoteByMailApplication.pdf or contact the Union County Clerk at 908-527-4996. The Clerk’s website also includes a video that explains how to fill out the Vote By Mail application form.
Vote By Mail ballot applications legally cannot be accepted if they are postmarked after October 27. But walk-in applications are accepted at the County Clerk’s Office up to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, the day before Election Day.
The Office of the County Clerk is located at the Union County Courthouse, 2 Broad Street, Room 113, Elizabeth NJ 07207. Regular office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
