Joining them was Alice Bakker of New Providence, a RUNNELLS volunteer. Bakker assisted at the popular annual holiday tree trimming and RUNNELLS Choir Concert.

Two residents at RUNNELLS SpecializedHospital of Union County handed out decorations for fellow residents to place on their tree, creating the perfect homey touch. The decorations were donated by Boy Scout Troop 368 of Berkeley Heights; the Roselle AARP and Plainsboro Girl Scouts.

Following the tree decorating, the RUNNELLS Choir entertained everyone there honoring Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa with holiday favorites. Their selections included “The Dreydel Song”, sung by resident-soloist Ed Gordon, formerly of Brick, and the choir singing “O Holy Night” and “Kum Ba-Ya.”

"It’s important to celebrate the holidays whether you live in a private house, an apartment or a long term care/rehabilitation facility like RUNNELLS SpecializedHospital,” said Union County Freeholder Daniel Sullivan. “Thanks to the Activities Therapy staff, the RUNNELLS Choir and some residents, this year’s celebration was as festive as always.”

RUNNELLS is located at 40 Watchung Way, Berkeley Heights. To learn more about the programs and services at RUNNELLS call 908-771-5700.
