Used and New Riding Apparel on Sale at Watchung Stable in Mountainside, March 3:

Drop Off Used Equestrian Gear for Consignment thru Feb. 28

MOUNTAINSIDE, NJ – The Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders and the Department of Parks and Community Renewal announce that Watchung Stable will host its Annual Used Riding Clothes Sale on Saturday, March 3, in Mountainside.

Patrons who have used riding clothes and equipment that they would like to sell are welcome to drop the items off at Watchung Stable through Feb. 28, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. All clothes must be clean and in good repair; helmets to be sold must have an attached harness. To ensure the quality of what is being sold, Watchung Stable management reserves the right to reject items which are not in adequate condition for resale or use. All sale prices will be determined by the Stable.

Two-thirds of each item’s sale price will be remitted to the seller and the rest will go to the Watchung Stable Auxiliary. The Auxiliary is the facility’s volunteer organization that is committed to the care and comfort of the Watchung Stable school horses.

Money from items sold, as well as any unsold items, can be picked up at the stable office after 2 p.m. between March 6 and March 13. Uncollected items will be discarded after March 24. Uncollected money will be donated to the Auxiliary’s “SHOW” (School Horses of Watchung) retirement fund after March 31.

The Stable’s tack shop also sells new riding clothes and equipment, including the basic items needed for Watchung Mounted Troop, which begins March 16, such as shirts, helmets, ties, insignias, crops, jodhpurs and paddock boots. Watchung Stable is currently taking registration for Spring Troop 2012 for children (over the age of nine) and adults.

Doors open for the sale on Saturday, March 3, from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Watchung Stable is a facility of the Union County Department of Parks and Community Renewal and is located at 1160 Summit Lane, Mountainside.
