The Union County Homicide Task Force is investigating the stabbing death of a 17-year-old which occurred earlier this morning following what is described as a large fight in Rahway, said Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow.
Police were called to Donald Avenue around 12:30a.m. on reports of a large fight in progress. At this time it is unclear how many people were involved in the altercation or what prompted the fight.
During the melee, a teenager was apparently stabbed, said Romankow.
The victim Jose Pacheco-Holley, DOB 10/15/1994, of Maple Terrace in Rahway was taken to Rahway Hospital where he was pronounced at 12:37 a.m., said Romankow.
An autopsy is scheduled for this morning and the Task Force and the Rahway Police continue to gather statements and examine potential evidence in the homicide. No arrests had been made as of Saturday morning.
