Styrofoam

Clean, White, Block-Type Foam Only

Please note – Only clean, white, rigid “block” type foam material is accepted at these sites. Wet or dirty foam will be rejected. Examples of acceptable foam include furniture and appliance packaging, with or without the #6 recycling stamp.

These sites do NOT accept other types of foam, such as soft or flexible sheets or blocks, packing “peanuts,” egg cartons, or food and beverage containers. These items must be disposed with regular household garbage.

Berkeley Heights – Berkeley Heights residents can bring their Styrofoam to the Berkeley Heights DPW yard, located at 101 Berkeley Avenue, on the first Saturday of the month from 9 am to noon.

Cranford – Cranford residents can bring Styrofoam to the Cranford Conservation Center, 210 Birchwood Avenue on Wednesdays 9:30am-3:20 pm and Saturday and Sunday 9:30am to 3:50 pm.

Elizabeth – Recycling Center at 523 Trenton Ave. 908-820-4150

New Providence – New Providence residents can drop off Styrofoam at the DPW located at 29 Park Place on the first and third Saturday of each month from 9 to 1pm. 

Plainfield – Plainfield residents can drop off Styrofoam at the PMUA Transfer Station, located at 95 Rock Avenue Monday-Friday 7 am – 3p; Saturdays 8 am to 1:45 pm.

Scotch Plains – Scotch Plains residents can drop off Styrofoam at the Scotch Plains DPW, located at 2445 Plainfield Avenue,  7:00 am – 2:00 pm on Thursdays. 

Springfield – Springfield residents can drop off Styrofoam at the municipal pool parking lot, located at 40-44 Morrison Rd in Springfield Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 11:30am

Summit – Summit residents can drop off Styrofoam at the Summit Transfer station located at 40 New Providence Avenue, Tuesday – Friday 7:30 am – 3:45 pm Saturday 7:30am – 4:45pm.

Union – Residents can drop off Styrofoam at the Union DPW yard, located at 1 Swanstrom Place, Monday – Friday from 8:30 to 4 pm.

Westfield – Residents can bring Styrofoam to the Westfield Conservation Center, 1300 Lamberts Mill Road, anytime the Center is open. Check the website, for exact days and hours of operation. No permit required.

The drop off locations listed on this site are provided as municipal services. Residents should never drop off unsolicited foam or other household waste at a commercial location.
