Undersheriff Dennis Burke resides in Marlboro with his wife, Meredith, and two sons Colin (7) and Connor (3). He grew up in Elizabeth and attended Roselle Catholic High School. After graduation, Dennis attended both Kean and Fairleigh Dickinson Universities.
The Undersheriff joined the Union County Sheriff’s Office in 1995 and has worked in the Family Violence and Fugitive Units, as well as being assigned to The Union County Prosecutor’s Office Counter Terrorism Task Force, FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, and Union County Homeland Security Bureau; he is also currently the Deputy Commander of the Union County Emergency Response Team / SWAT Team.
Undersheriff Burke is the recipient of the John H. Stamler Police Academy Class 74 Academic Achievement Award, as well as 4 Commendation Awards, 6 Letters of Commendation, 3 Distinguished Service Certificates, and 1 Unit Commendation. He has also received several commendations and awards for his participation with UCERT.
The Undersheriff will continue his assignment as the Commander of the Fugitive, Family Violence, and Street Crime Units.
Dennis is very active with his family, coaching his sons’ Little League baseball teams.
