America’s Literacy Directory (ALD) – A national database of literacy programs is available via the Worldwide Web and the Institute for Literacy’s toll-free number. ALD connects employers, learners, volunteers, social service providers to current information about literacy program in all 50 states and U.S. territories.

 

National Association Workforce Boards (NAWB) – NAWB represents business-led Workforce Boards that plan and oversee state and local workforce development and job training programs. Our members are volunteers working in their communities to create a more highly skilled workforce. Workforce Boards consist of public and private sector members who are leading the way in workforce development so that America can remain competitive in the global marketplace. The skills of the workforce provide the basis for all economic growth and development. Workforce Boards are local employer-led partnerships charged with developing a workforce development system from disparate education, job training, and employment programs in each local community.

 

National Governors Association (NGA) – This web site provides a collective voice of the nation’s governors and one of Washington, D.C.’s, most respected public policy organizations. NGA provides governors and their senior staff members with services that range from representing states on Capitol Hill and before the Administration on key federal issues to developing policy reports on innovative state programs and hosting networking seminars for state government executive branch officials. The NGA Center for Best Practices focuses on state innovations and best practices on issues that range from education and health to technology, welfare reform, and the environment. NGA also provides management and technical assistance to both new and incumbent governors.

US Department of Labor/Employment and Training Administration – This web site is designed to direct adults, youth, dislocated workers, and workforce development professions to information on employment and training programs.

 

STATE

Garden State Employment & Training Association (GSETA) -GSETA is a statewide professional organization for the directors and administrators of New Jersey’s Service Delivery Areas, Workforce Investment Boards and other locally delivered employment and training initiatives.

 

The John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, Edward J. Bloustein School of Policy and Public Planning, Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is a research and policy organization devoted to transforming the workforce development system at the local, state, and federal levels. The Center provides an independent source of analysis for reform and innovation in policy-making and employs cutting-edge research and evaluation projects to identify best practices in workforce development and employment and workplace policy. The Heldrich Center is dedicated to educating business, policymakers, union leaders, academia, the media, and the public about the workforce development system and its role in our changing economy and workplaces.

 
One-Stop Operations – The mission of the One- Stop Delivery System is to advance the economic well being of this workforce investment area by developing and maintaining a quality workforce and by serving as the focal point for all local and regional workforce investment initiatives. This will be achieved through the delivery of high quality and integrated workforce investment, education, and economic development services for job seekers, incumbent workers, and employers.
 

School-to-Careers – This web site provides information on how the state and their partners are bring together efforts at education reform worker preparation and economic development to create a system to prepare youth for the high wage, high skill careers of today’s and tomorrow’s global economy.
