Elm St Culvert Replacement - Westfield
Tuesday, June 5, 2018 - 9:00am

Please be advised that Elm St at the intersection of Orchard St in Westfield will be under construction on or about Tuesday, September 4, 2018. Construction is scheduled to last approximately 2 months. The work being performed will consist of the full replacement of a culvert beneath the roadway.

The work is scheduled to be done in three phases.

Phase 1 - Two-way traffic will be shifted to the westbound side of the roadway while work is done on the eastbound side. This shift will be in effect from Sep 4 to Sep 24, weather permitting.

Phase 2 - Full road closure of Elm St. Orchard St will serve as a detour around the work zone. This closure will be in effect from Sep 25 to Oct 12, weather permitting.

Phase 3 - Orchard St will be closed at Elm St and two-way traffic will be shifted to the eastbound side on Elm St while work is done on the westbound side and Orchard St. This closure and lane shift will be in effect from Oct 15 to Nov 12, weather permitting.

Passage for pedestrians as well as access to local businesses will be maintained throughout the project.

Emergency vehicles will not be allowed through the work zone during phase 2 and should plan accordingly.

A detour maintained by the contractor will be in place but motorists are advised to use alternate routes if possible to avoid potential delays.

The County recognizes the inconvenience that any road construction may cause and apologizes for any difficulties encountered. The County shall make every effort to have the work completed as soon as possible.
