On February 1st, owners of businesses both large and small joined representatives of State, County and local government for the kick off of the Union County Means Business Networking Breakfast Series. Dr. Dawood Farahi, Kean University President, greeted a standing room only crowd of well over 200 attendees welcoming them to the university and highlighting Kean’s new partnership which establishes the first ever American university campus in China. Union County Freeholder Chairman Alexander Mirabella described the development of his 2012 initiative, Union County Means Business, designed to foster business growth within the County. He went on to thank the County’s partners in this endeavor, the Union County Alliance, UCEDC, Greater Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce, Suburban Chamber of Commerce, Kean University, Union County College, Union Township Chamber of Commerce and New Jersey Small Business Development Center. Senators Raymond Lesniak and Tom Kean, Jr. each shared their commitment to moving business forward in Union County. Finally, attendees heard from featured speaker, Caren S. Franzini , CEO of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority. Ms. Franzini shared insight on the state’s support for economic growth and development . In addition, she provided valuable information about the Business Action Center, the EDA, lending opportunities and a look ahead to 2012. All in all it was a morning of learning, networking and optimism about the future.
